Hello, everyone! How is everyone doing? We’re finally here! YES! THIS IS THE MONTH WHERE WE ROAST MARA. For those of you that don’t know, we have our annual gathering, called the Mara Roast starting on the 31th of this month, and running up till June 6th. This is the third one: the first one was simultaneous retreats in both Patagonia and Florida, then we had our truly first international one last year in Atlanta and this one is in Buenos Aires! This is a very special September, especially for Portland. In the hazy clutch of autumn's breath, where the Willamette sighs against concrete shores, a teaching stirs. Not of this land but carried on winds from the East, borne by one Lama Dorje Sherab, whose name rings foreign yet holds a promise of enlightenment to those who would listen. Sun Wukong. The Monkey King. A figure wreathed in myth and mischief, now transmuted into holy practice. He who was born of stone, who wreaked havoc in the halls of heaven, who journeyed west in penance and revelation. His tale is not of this continent, yet it echoes in the bones of all who've known rebellion and redemption. In the gray streets of Portland, where hipsters and holdouts mingle in uneasy truce, this ancient wisdom will unfold. It speaks of transformation, of the untamed mind harnessed to transcendent purpose. The Monkey King's journey from chaos to clarity, a path now offered to those who would walk it. But make no mistake. This is no gentle awakening. Sun Wukong's way is fraught with trials, each step a battle against the ego's clamoring din. It demands a fierceness of spirit, a willingness to confront the howling void within and emerge unbroken. It is a Sorcerer-Trickster path, fraught with danger. As September's chill settles over the city, those who heed the call will gather. In some nondescript room, perhaps adorned with symbols foreign to this land, they will sit. And in the space between breaths, in the silence between thoughts, they may catch a glimpse of that indomitable monkey spirit - wild, free, and ultimately, profoundly at peace. This will happen in Lama Sherab's teaching in Portland. But not only that! Cohort 1 of P-3 will start this month. But first, let's get the basic info out of the way... We pay for things. Like trips to teach the Dharma, like our Zoom, our Otter.ai transcribing service or the thousand things we do to keep teaching. At the same time, remember that money shouldn't be a problem. We have free activities every month. But basically: you give us money, we put it to use in the teaching of Dharma. Monthly activities On Sunday 08, I'll teach both the Niguma Guru Yoga and give a talk about Guru Yogas.
