About the event
In the high country where the wind speaks in tongues unknown to men, there dwells a figure both ancient and ever-new. Orgyen Menla they call him, the Medicine Buddha of Oddiyana. His skin the hue of lapis lazuli, his right hand offering the myrobalan fruit, remedy for all ills.
He comes not from the world of flesh and bone but from the realm of pure awareness, a place beyond time where suffering is but a distant echo. The initiates speak of him in whispers, their words carried on the smoke of juniper and sage.
In dreams and visions he appears, to those with eyes to see and hearts unencumbered by the trivial concerns of mortal life. His teachings flow like a river of quicksilver, impossible to grasp yet capable of washing away the accumulated grime of countless lifetimes.
The terma, hidden treasures of the mind, lie dormant in the landscape of consciousness until one with the key arrives to unlock them. Lama Dorje Sherab, a name that rings with the sound of thunderbolts striking adamantine truth, now steps forth as such a one.
In this world of blood and dust, of petty cruelties and vast indifferences, the teachings of Orgyen Menla emerge like a cool spring in a sun-blasted wasteland. Those who drink deeply may find themselves transformed, their eyes opened to realities undreamed of by the masses who shuffle through life in a fog of ignorance and want.
But beware. The path is not for the faint of heart nor the weak of will. To walk in the footsteps of the Medicine Buddha is to court madness or enlightenment, with no guarantee of which will claim you in the end.
Lama Sherab will offer the opening to this mandala on 9/28
