About the event
During the 7th century, the Tantras formative stages were becoming codified in many different vehicles and teachings among the regions and religions which adopted these forms of practice, especially in the interchange between Sanatana, Jain and Buddha Dharmas. During this time the Master Haribhadra arose. His root Guru was from the Jain Dharmas, and he traveled extensively at his Guru's instructions to receive both Sanatana and Buddha Dharma. During this time of his youth he killed several Buddhist monks as a part of a wager in a debate. His Guru ordered him to only work to benefit beings through daily manual labor for many years. Doing this, he purified his actions and through interdependence developed a mind without sectarianism.
He was a close friend of the Buddhist master Dharmakirti and received initiations from him. Practicing the generation and completion stages, he came to realize Mahamudra. At this time, all bias fell away, and he wrote the Yogadṛṣṭisamuccaya, The Compendium of Yogic Views, one of the great works of this period in India, and one of the first truly non-biased masterpiece, that mapped out the path of progress for Yogins of all Tantric traditions the commonality of the methods, and the disparate points of the View.
In the 20th century he appeared to Jamyang Khyentse Chokyi Lodro, giving him a Guru Yoga and words of advice on the Yogadṛṣṭisamuccaya. Lama Sherab will be giving the empowerment of this incredible Master and an overview of his Eightfold System in the Yogadṛṣṭisamuccaya. It is our hope that in this time of vast sectarianism and war over culture and religion, the non-sectarian wisdom of Sri Haribhadra will pervade the entire world.
